FAIRFIELD, NJ--Following three months of state mandated lockdown, Bella Arte Tattoo is very happy to be welcoming customers back to their 3,000 square foot studio where they’ve been located for seven years. Joey Tattoo, the owner, has been tattooing for over thirty years and been a mentor to countless tattoo artists, as well as emceeing tattoo shows and conventions around the world.
You might recognize Joey from Spike TV’s Reality Series “Tattoo Rescue” which was informative for those in the tattoo industry as well as for customers. It featured well known tattoo artists as mentors, featuring a different mentor in each episode. Joey and his crew visited eleven shops, critiquing them and renovating the spaces, as well as reinvigorating and, in some cases, re-educating staff. Each episode was bumpy as it unfolded, but the outcome was always the same: happy artists and shop owners proud of their new tattoo shops!
Bella Arte is fortunate to have ample space in their studio, which has allowed them to raise their already high standards for cleanliness and sterilization in accordance with NJ guidelines to meet COVID-19 safety protocols. The studio houses seven tattoo artists and one piercing station. Prior to the pandemic, following strict NJ guidelines, Bella Arte artists had always worn gloves, used disposable tattoo supplies, and used pre-packaged and pre-sterilized equipment.
Now, Bella Arte staff take the temperature of everyone who enters the facility and log this information for contact tracing purposes. All customers and staff wear masks at all times, and the large facility allows for social distancing. Bella Arte has put in place more stringent sterilization practices for all surfaces that staff and customers come into contact with. As you might guess, many tattoo customers like to bring someone along for moral support, but unfortunately, following the Governor’s mandate, they cannot do so at this time to limit the number of people visiting the studio. To help stop the spread, any piercings that would be in the area under a mask are currently suspended. In addition, contactless checkout is available.
